The domain of Apunukpa today

Ayité ADJAVON, after thinking long and hard, declared that he would not go into the city. He would settle in Loliako. At the time, Loliako was the place where the bodies of those killed by lightning or the fetishes of the region were displayed.

So said, so done. Tatagan Ayité ADJAVON settled permanently in Loliako between 1881 and 1882.

As the years went by, Loliako became more and more populated and became a real neighbourhood. Virtually every day, the sea came to break its waves over the fences of the new district: hence the name "Apunukpa". This is how Loliako became APUNUKPA for everyone.

Once the move to Apunukpa was complete, Ayité ADJAVON turned his attention to other activities. He acquired several fields and farms. He could be seen looking after Ablégamé, Klintigomé, Akagâdji, Sivamé, Agblévimé and Vodugbé.
